Five years after the devastating impact of Comet Clarke, John (Gerard Butler), Allison (Morena Baccarin) and their son Nathan (Roman Griffin Davis) are still living in the bunker in Greenland that ensured their survival. But they find no peace here: the air and water are contaminated, radiation storms rage across the surface, and fragments of the comet still float in orbit, threatening to crash into Earth. When a devastating earthquake destroys the bunker, the family must set out once again and fight their way through a devastated Europe to the only place on the planet that seems safe – the gigantic crater of Clarke's comet in southern France.
